Cancellation insurance

For when you have to unexpectedly cancel

Sometimes things happen just before or during your holiday, preventing you from going on holiday or forcing you to cancel halfway through. That is when it is nice to be able to fall back on cancellation insurance.

Cancellation insurance is purchased from Anker Insurance.

In the insurance terms you will find the types of situations you are and are not covered for.
The insurance card briefly summarizes what is insured and what is not.

What are you covered for?

You are insured for the cost of canceling your trip and canceling your trip early.

When are you insured?

You are covered for serious illness from the moment you take out this coverage until the moment your trip begins. In addition, throughout your trip, you are insured for early cancellation of your trip. The start and end dates of your trip are listed on your reservation confirmation. In what situations are you insured

You are insured for cancellation fees if you cancel your trip in the following situations:

  1. You, a first-degree relative, a second-degree relative, or a roommate dies, becomes seriously ill, or is seriously injured in an accident.
  2. A third-degree relative dies.
  3. You or your partner learns after booking the trip that you are pregnant and this will have a direct impact on your booked trip.
  4. You, a roommate, or your resident child must undergo medically necessary surgery.
  5. You unexpectedly receive a rental property or new home within 30 days before the trip begins. You are also insured, if you need to be present at the handover of the keys of your existing home during your trip. But ONLY if you have no control over the handover or completion date.
  6. The host or hostess who lives abroad and with whom you were to stay during the trip becomes seriously ill, suffers serious injuries due to an accident, or dies and is therefore no longer able to host you.
  7. You are unexpectedly unable to get the vaccination required for your travel destination due to medical reasons. You could also not have possibly known this.
  8. You are unexpectedly and through no fault of your own unable to obtain a visa for your travel destination abroad.
  9. You become unemployed through no fault of your own and consequently lose employment.
  10. You are offered a job after a period of unemployment and your new employer does not agree to the booked trip because you have to be present on the scheduled travel days. It must be a position of at least 20 hours per week and for at least six months.
  11. Your lasting relationship or marriage ends unexpectedly. By "lasting relationship" we mean a relationship with a joint household which can be proven by proof of registration in the personal records database.
  12. You lose your travel documents on the day of departure and have immediately reported this to the police.
  13. Your parent(s) or child(ren) unexpectedly needs urgent care that only you can provide yourself.
  14. The private means of transportation by which you were to make the trip breaks down due to an external calamity within thirty days before the start of the trip. This vehicle cannot be replaced or repaired in time. An "external calamity" is, for example, a collision, storm, or theft. This does not include breakdown, mechanical failure, and the like. You must have the approval of the Anker Alarm Center to qualify.
  15. You or another insured person must be present at home due to material damage to one of your properties, (rental) homes, or commercial buildings. You must have the approval of the Anker Alarm Center to qualify.

Are you entitled to compensation if you have to cut your trip short midway? This is true only in the following situations:

  1. You, a first-degree relative, a second-degree relative, or a roommate dies, becomes seriously ill, or is seriously injured in an accident.
